Media Trip

We went to the Bradford film festival on the 8th and the 9th of October. While we were there, we visited many different screenings and workshops. During the screenings, we saw different films from a range of ages and different schools, including last years Ilkley Grammar School AS media class's films, which were to a very high standard.

The workshops that i attended while i was there were the Splat Animation, and the Quick Draw Animation.

I felt that the Splat Animation, which comprised of making a morph figure, then filming a ten second film, which contained over 200 pictures. This means that the photos we took were telling a story, but for each picture we changed one small detail of it. This then made a quick story. I found this very useful because it showed different aspects of films and how some of them are made.

I then attended the Quick Draw Animation on the friday, and felt that this workshop was not as useful as the Splat Animation, because all it comprised of was, like we did in the splat animation, drawing still images on each page of a sketch pad, to make a very fast moving story.

The reason I felt that this workshop was not as useful as splat animation, is because with the splat animation we used video cameras and learned how to edit a film in a different way.

Overall, i felt that this media trip was very useful, because it gave us an idea of what can happen in the future to media, but also some of the crucial aspects to making a film, and also seeing what other people have made, and how this can improve our work.
